ur research
on the farm and in cooperation with University of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin
Department of Natural Resources will determine the feasibility of rotational
grazing to restore degraded oak savannas.
This research will help document
what we have been doing using the Highland breed on our farm in a scientific
manner. Most of the degraded savanna in SW Wisconsin is in private ownership
on farm properties. The documentation of this type of livestock management
in degraded savanna area would benefit other producers who could add to
their available pasture base by grazing these areas, reduce their tax
burden and help in the reclamation of the savanna structure in Midwest
region.
The documents below are the product of a research project in which we participated.
